Fashion Essentials: Wardrobe Classics
Fashion is changing so rapidly that it is difficult to keep up with all the trends. Luckily, style is eternal.
Today we bring you a list of classic statement pieces for both women. So, say goodbye to fashion fads and say hello to these classic pieces.
You can use accessories used to elevate and refresh these classic pieces. Here are some must-have statement pieces.
This is an absolute must-have in every woman’s wardrobe. Can you believe that men wore it first? Guess what – women wore it better. From the casual white shirt and skinny jeans combo to the work-appropriate combination with black pencil skirt, you name it. If accessorized with a statement choker, this shirt looks even more fabulous.
White t-shirt is the ultimate basic piece: it is comfy, goes well with almost everything and can be super-stylish if the cut is good. You can up the fashion quotient by wearing a printed white shirt with a funny or interesting statement/quote. For a more formal look, accessorize it with a pendant necklace. Pair your tees with a pair of jeans and a colorful blazer for the perfect spring look.
Little Black Dress
Well, this one’s a no-brainer. The LBD has been the quintessential wardrobe piece, ever since Coco Chanel brought it into the world of fashion. It has endured the test of time as Audrey Hepburn reinvented it in movies. A pearl necklace might be a bit more elegant affair, but you can accessorize with a statement necklace, colorful blazer, bright shoes, conspicuous earrings, etc. depending on the occasion. Make sure to find one that complements your body type.
The casual cotton striped shirt is truly a fashion evergreen – the cuts can change, but the pattern remains. It goes perfectly with a pair of jeans (dark blue even better) and gives you that effortlessly chic Parisian charm.
Now, the Gentlemen...
The fact that women wear it better, does not mean that men do not wear it well. The best way to get the look right is by wearing well-fitted custom dress shirts which can be worn with dress pants, tailored suit and even tuxedos. Pair with a tie or a bow, or ditch the “neck pieces” all together and go bare necked.
Whether you are going to a wedding or on a business trip a solid colored tailored suit is a must-have. It is a worthy investment, though it is difficult to find a well-fitted suit in stores, as it can last for a long time. Combine it with your dress shirt and Oxford shoes, for the wow-effect.
Black Leather Jacket
There is nothing more classic than a man wearing a black leather jacket. Remember John Travolta in “Grease” and Mel Gibson in Mad Max? You cannot go wrong with that. Depending on the occasion you can wear your biker/bomber or some other style leather jacket with jeans, shirt, cotton t-shirt, plaid shirt, dark jeans, etc.
Now, here is one thing that will go well with your leather jacket. Remember, many men make the mistake of buying wrong fit of jeans, but the fit is more important than the cut and color combined. Dark, solid color jeans are the most versatile, because, depending on the rest of the outfit, they can be both casual and dressy.
As you see, there is no need for panic about what you are going to wear when you are well-equipped with fashion essentials. All you have to do is to wear them and then build the rest of your outfit upon these basics.
So, go out and take on the world.
